At Alder, we believe that regular school attendance is key to empowering children and young people to achieve their full potential and maximise the educational opportunities available to them. A good school attendance of 96% and above is optimal to ensure children have the best chance of success.
More so, research indicates that good school attendance supports children to develop their emotional resilience, relationships with peers and confidence in their own ability- all of which are essential skills in preparation for post-16 ventures and later adulthood.
As part of our drive to improve whole school attendance, we are excited to share our new Alder Attendance Blitz initiative that will launch this week.
Our Attendance Blitz days will be held regularly throughout the school year with the aim of supporting parents with their child’s attendance and reducing absences from school.
What you need to know:
- Before: Attendance Blitz days will be announced to parents/carers via Class Charts the day before the Blitz Day takes place. This announcement will include details of day the Blitz Day is scheduled for and which Year group has been selected.
- During: The attendance team will conduct home visits to all students absent in the selected Year group over the course of the day. Home visits will take place for all students that are absent from school that day, including students with reported absences from parents/carers and authorised absences.
During the visit, our school EWOs will want to see your child at home, help with any barriers to attending school and support your child with their return to school.
As always, we thank you for your continued support.
