We have an exciting day trip off site planned for for Year 9! Students will immerse themselves in history and geography as they visit the Imperial War Museum and explore the vibrant area around Media City and Salford Quays. We can't wait to see what they discover! The jam packed itinerary includes:

  • History and stories about the creation of the Manchester Ship Canal 
  • The wildlife preservation area of the canal and 'gnome Island'
  • Manchester and Salford's part in the industrial revolution and becoming the world's 1st industrial city
  • The rise and decline of the docks and the rebirth of the Quays and Media city
  • The story behind Media city and its future plans 
  • The future development plans for the Quays and Manchester City Centre
  • The residential growth of the area and the challenge of affordable housing
  • The historical story of why Manchester United are located at old Trafford
  • The Imperial War Museum - building background
  • The water basins adjacent to the canal - used for fishing water sports and water based competitions (Ontario basin & Erie basin)
