Uniform and Equipment Policy

At Alder, our uniform is an essential part of our identity. It instils a sense of pride and belonging in our school and signals a readiness to be part of our learning community. It is school policy that uniform is worn at all times during the school day and for all out of hours school events, such as attending Parents' Evening. Uniform should be worn correctly to and from school as the impression our students give in the community is of extreme importance. 

Please refer to the following 3 documents for full details of the uniform, equipment and for guidance on examples of items of uniform which are acceptable and not acceptable.  If you are in any doubt about the suitability of an item of uniform please do not hesitate to contact school before purchasing.   

Update for cooler weather

With the onset of colder weather and the continual need for windows to be open to promote ventilation in classrooms, some students may find themselves feeling cold. 

In line with our uniform policy students can wear an Alder hoody and Alder track pants or unbranded black track pants on the day they have PE. Some students have chosen to wear their blazer over their PE kit, this continues to be acceptable. 

In addition to our normal school uniform we will also be allowing students to wear their Alder hoody, or plain black v neck jumper underneath their blazer to keep students warm. School blazers must still be worn at all times.  

Obviously, this update only applies whilst Covid restrictions continue in our school.

House Tie Colours for 2020

Alder students wear house ties, these are dark green with an Alder logo in a house colour. The table below details which house each form is part of:
