As part of our first ‘We are Alder’ day of the year, we are excited to offer a Sponsored Walk for Year 8 students, as well as Year 7 students who are not attending Linnet Clough. This year, our fundraising project will support Maisie Moo’s Missions, a charity that empowers disadvantaged young people.

Donations can be made through ParentPay or our Crowdfunder pagehttps://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/wearealder2025

The walk will take place on Friday 28th November 2025 and will cover approximately five miles around the Gee Cross and Werneth Low area. Students will begin the day in form time as usual, departing shortly after and returning in time for lunch. Following the walk, students will complete a charity-based activity in their form rooms.

The walk is a wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy the local environment, chat with friends, and get some fresh air, all while raising money for a good cause. Students will be supported by a number of staff, allowing them to walk at their own pace and ensuring the experience is safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Significant planning and risk assessments have been carried out to ensure the walk is safe and well-managed. To support this, it is important that students come appropriately dressed:

  • Full Alder PE kit

  • Tracksuit bottoms or sports leggings (optional)

  • Old trainers or walking boots

  • A change of footwear for returning to school

Students are also advised to bring a snack and a drink to enjoy during the walk.

We ask that you take a few minutes to discuss our behaviour expectations with your child. It is essential that all students demonstrate safe, sensible, and respectful behaviour, following staff instructions at all times. Any student failing to meet these expectations may be collected and will receive a sanction in line with school policy. Similarly, students’ participation in the walk (and in future rewards trips) may be withdrawn if behaviour expectations are not being met in school beforehand.

Consent must be provided via ParentPay.

We are very grateful for your support in helping to make this event a success, and we look forward to a fun, purposeful, and social day for our students.
