Arrangements for Year 10

From Monday, 22nd June 2020 following a full review of the risk assessment and detailed plans by the Governing Body and in line with Government guidance we will begin the phased re-opening of school starting with Year 10 who will return for some ‘face to face’ time with their teachers on a rota basis. In order to ensure social distancing at all times within school we need to limit the number of people on site at any one time. Therefore, the year group has been divided into 5 groups of approximately 30 students. Each group will attend school for one day per week according to the group timetable below:

  • Students will be allocated a group. Their group number will be sent by email and text/MyEd app message;
  • Students cannot change group for any reason and must only attend school on their designated day;
  • The school buses will not be operating, students should walk or cycle to school wherever possible;
  • On their designated day students should arrive between 8:45am and 9:00am and line up on the 2 metre markings at the Headway entrance at the front of school (the back gate will not be open);
  • To maintain hygiene standards school uniform will not be required. However, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for school (see new behaviour policy below);
  • Students will be unable to wander around school and will be supervised at all times;
  • Equipment: Students will need to bring a pen but an exercise book will be provided;
  • There will be no canteen facility available but students can bring water and a snack for break if they wish;
  • Students will be taught by subject specialist teachers in small groups of no more than 10 students;
  • All students will experience some face to face teaching of core subjects and also an experience of most of their options;
  • School will finish at 12:20pm (no lunch will be available) unless the student's option for session 3 is unavailable in which case they will finish at 11:00am. Students must not remain on site once they have been dismissed;
  • In the event that you suspect your child has Covid 19 symptoms do not send them to school. Follow NHS guidelines for isolation and inform school of the situation immediately;
  • If for any reason your child is not attending school on their designated day you must inform school through the normal attendance reporting channels;
  • In addition to attending one day per week, all students should continue to engage with their home learning through Microsoft Teams via Office 365. Home learning guidance can be found here.

Phased Re-Opening of School

Priority Groups

Children of critical workers, vulnerable children and children with an EHCP who are already eligible to attend, will continue to be offered a place, regardless of the year group they are in. The definition of critical workers remains unchanged and can be found on the Government website.

In order for us to ensure appropriate safety and staffing, critical worker places must be booked in advance by contacting school on 0161 368 5312 or by e mail. Students without a prior booking will not be admitted.

Critical worker students must arrive between 8.15am and 8.30am through the main school entrance, where they will be signed in and directed to wash their hands  and escorted to their allocated classroom. From 15th June if critical worker students arrive after 8.30am they will not be admitted until 9.15am due to the arrival of Year 10 students.

Children do not need to wear uniform but they do need to be dressed appropriately for a school environment and have suitable footwear for an outdoor activity. All children must bring a reading book.

There is a very limited lunch available in school, or children can bring a packed lunch.
