As you are probably aware, this week, school will begin the process of mass testing for our pupils. The Government have informed us that all pupils must be offered the opportunity to be tested before they can enter the classroom. We are now gathering consent from parents to ensure as many of our pupils as possible can participate in the testing. Upon their return to school, pupils will be tested three times, with 3 to 5 days between each test. These tests are for individuals who do not have any coronavirus symptoms and are being used to identify and isolate asymptomatic cases of Covid-19. The DFE have asked us to prioritise Years 10 and 11 in the first instance. To facilitate this in the safest way possible we will commence testing on Wednesday 3rd March. In school provision for Key worker pupils will cease on the 5th March.
Consent Forms
In order for this process to be as smooth as possible, we would kindly request that you consider all of the information on the Covid-19 testing page and provide your consent using the online form on this link. Thank you to those parents/carers who have already completed the form to provide consent, you do not need to do this again. Pupils in Year 11 who are already 16 years of age should complete their own consent form.

Attending for the first Covid-19 test
Pupils should arrive at school for a test within their allocated time slot. For safety reasons pupils must not come outside of their allocated time slot. They do not need to be in uniform but must be wearing a mask, unless exempt for medical reasons. Pupils will enter through the Headway door at the front of school and they will wait in the Library until they are called for their test. Pupils should follow social distancing guidelines at all times. The test takes approximately five minutes to complete. They will then be free to leave via the Headway door.
Week commencing the 8th March 2021: Phased return to school.
There will be no live lessons during this week of transition, but work will continue to be set online until your child returns to school full-time. Pupils on their return should arrive at their usual start time and line up at their year group entrance.
Please ensure that when your child returns to school full-time, they are in full school uniform or full Alder PE kit. Please make sure that your child’s hair style and colour is in keeping with the school’s uniform policy which can be found on the website. Also ensure they bring their full equipment, and exercise books as per their timetable. If you are having any issues with this, please contact your child’s Progress Leader prior to their return to school.
Face Masks
The government has strongly recommended the use of face coverings in school, including during lessons, so please ensure your child has with them a face covering and a spare unless exempt for medical reasons.
