Following the news announced this week about the plans to reopen school, we are really looking forward to welcoming everybody back.
The past 12 months has had an impact on us all in different ways and sometimes it is difficult to comprehend and make sense of things. Some people have undoubtedly struggled more than others and we want our students to know that we are here for them and will do what we can to make the transition back to school as smooth as we can but also to offer that additional support to those that feel that they need it.
With this in mind, we have invited all students to attend an online event taking place tomorrow (Thursday 25th February) at 2.45pm. Those students are currently in school can stay and participate or they can watch at a later time as it will be recorded.
The presenter is Dez Wilson who is a worker from an organisation called Kooth. Many of you will have heard of Kooth as we have shared the details of their services before. Here is some information direct from Dez ahead of the presentation tomorrow:
What is Kooth?
Kooth is a free anonymous online counselling and emotional wellbeing service which young people in Tameside can access from the age of 11 up to the eve of their 19th birthday.
Kooth has no waiting lists for young people, so they can access a 1:1 chat with a qualified counsellor from within 1 to 24 hours simply by logging on to the website. There are also other features on the website where they can get support in lots of different ways including peer support from over 250,000 other young people.
We have some famous ambassadors who recommend Kooth in this video.
Here is a 1 minute video which shows how Kooth works.
This is an amazing opportunity for us so please encourage your child to take the time to join and listen to the information Dez has to share. There will be the opportunity at the end for them to ask questions using the Q&A chat function. Mrs Anderson and Mrs White will be in school supporting the session and monitoring the Q&A.
