Home School Agreement

If your child is to enjoy school and be successful, then there must be an effective partnership between students, parents and school. This is outlined below.

Alder Community High School will:

  • provide a happy and safe environment;
  • provide a high quality education;
  • celebrate success and achievement;
  • encourage the highest standards of attainment;
  • encourage the highest standards of behaviour;
  • keep you informed about your child’s progress through written reports and annual Parents’ Evenings;
  • inform you of any concerns regarding your child;
  • listen to and act upon any concerns you may have.

You, as the parent, will understand that it is your responsibility to:

  • ensure that your child comes to school on time;
  • ensure your child comes to school in full school uniform;
  • take an interest in your child’s work and encourage him/her to do their best;
  • make sure your child completes homework;
  • attend Parents’ Evenings;
  • encourage the highest standards of courtesy and respect;
  • support the school if the need for after school detentions or other sanctions arises;
  • make arrangements for your child to get home after detentions;
  • encourage your child to participate in extra-curricular activities;
  • contact school if you have concerns regarding your child;
  • ensure that your child does not bring a mobile phone to school;
  • support the school policy on mobile phones.

You, as the student, will understand that it is your responsibility to:

  • arrive at school and lessons on time;
  • wear the correct uniform;
  • bring the correct books and equipment needed for lessons;
  • follow the school rules and accept sanctions;
  • behave well in class and follow instructions without argument;
  • take pride in your work and do your best at all times;
  • speak to people politely;
  • treat other students, and your teachers, with good manners and respect;
  • be tolerant of people who are different from you;
  • look after property and equipment belonging to the school and other people;
  • adhere to the school policy on mobile phones without argument.
