Are you interested in becoming a Parent Governor?

Alder Community High School currently has a vacancy for a parent governor.  The governing body, with the head teacher, has overall responsibility for the running of the school. Governing bodies have three core strategic functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

No special qualifications are needed and the most important thing is to have an interest in the school and in the welfare of our children and the time and willingness to get involved. However, we would particularly welcome nominations from parents with skills in any of the following areas:

  • Financial management;
  • Human resource management;
  • Building /facilities management;
  • Health and safety;
  • Strategic planning;
  • ICT infrastructure;
  • Community links;
  • Safeguarding;
  • Education management

For more information and a nomination form, please contact the clerk to the governing body on the main school number or by e mail:
